How nyah project works

WHAT WE DO

We bridge systemic opportunity gaps by providing transformative leadership fellowships abroad and tech-enabled college access strategy coaching.

HOW WE SERVE

  1. Leadership Training
    - Program 1: The LEAD Workshop+Summit is a multi-day intensive introduction to the Nyah Project Experiential Leadership model and is a component of our Fellowship selection process. Those who complete the full LEAD experience qualify for an online leadership certificate of completion.

- Program 2: The Global Experiential Leadership Fellowship is our signature 12-day experiential leadership fellowship abroad comprised of intercultural competence training, in-country masterclasses, impact days, cultural immersion and leadership labs. The Fellowship, which typically occurs in countries in sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia, is designed to: (1) equip fellows with the tools, skills and practical experiences to positively impact their individual communities and the world beyond, (2) develop intentional practices to lead with purpose, empathy and excellence of character, (3) instill a globally inclusive mindset and an understanding of social change; and (4) provide life-long mentorship and increased social capital.

2. College Strategy Access
- Program 3: Access Online: In 2020, we expanded our college strategy coaching to develop Access Online - a web-based, mobile responsive, self-paced coaching platform that uses a suite of 9+ courses, 80+ video lessons, and 40+ tools/resources to empower underserved high school students to develop a successful college admissions strategy.

The platform and its related curriculum are meant to be tools for Youth Service Providers to use as the foundation for their own college access coaching.

WHO WE SERVE

  1. Nyah Fellows

We select up to 12 fellows each year for our signature Experiential Leadership Fellowship abroad and provide continued mentorship support for our alumni cohort of 80.

  2. Youth Leaders

Up to 100 youth receive experiential leadership certification through our annual LEAD Workshop and Summit.

  3. Youth Service Providers

We partner with Youth Service Providers - organizations, schools, institutions and professionals who provide direct services to opportunity youth - and train them in effective college access strategy coaching, as well as identifying potential candidates for our annual fellowship program.

We BELIEVE

  • We believe that young minds are like parachutes; they only function when open to the world.

  • Each aspect of our programs are designed to expose participants to our four LIIP pillars: Leadership. Inclusion. Impact. Purpose.

  • Leadership is both a verb and a skillset that is cultivated through immersive experiences with key principles and core values.

  • Strategic coaching, as well as connection to new cultures through service, allows youth to discover their true leadership purpose.

OUR CORE Values

Excellence.
Empathy.
Intentionality.
Integrity.

WHERE WE WORK

We are based in Miami, Florida, USA.

Currently, our fellowship is only open to South Florida-based youth. However, we travel to countries in sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia as part of our annual fellowship where we partner with and learn alongside local organizations and community leaders.

Through our college access strategy coaching platform, Access Online, our reach can be national. We are eager to put our learnings to work to cultivate similar impact in other cities throughout the United States.

If you or someone you know is interested in getting involved, please contact info@nyahproject.org.

Strategic Priorities.

Our strategic priorities for 2022 are:

  1. Fundraising.
Our goal is to raise $1.5 million in multi-year investments to ensure we have the resources + capacity to scale our operations sustainably.

  2. Engagement.
People first. We aim to rebuild + strengthen our connections with our existing support network, as well as new stakeholders, as the foundation for our growth.
