The Nyah Project is all about enhancing students’ global perspectives. Within the U.S Embassy in Ghana, the Fellows got a briefing on global issues, as well as how American and Ghanaian leaders work together to enhance their countries. Our information session was kickstarted with a speech by the Deputy Chief, who introduced us to problems that Ghana faced and the Embassy’s role in finding solutions. One such problem occurs in the educational sector, where public education is declining in the face of a rise in private tutoring. To combat this difficulty, the officials of the U.S Embassy are working with Ghanaians to form study abroad programs that send students to American universities.

We also had the pleasure of meeting Embassy representatives, such as Defense Liaison Officer Cresswell, who shared descriptions of their careers. At the end of our meeting, the officers held a panel Q&A and rounded out the event by networking with the Fellows in groups.
